The film starts out with a man taking a horse to the vet in town. His daughter wants to go with, and he says no. She sneaks into the trailer and during the drive on the curvy snow covered roads there is an accident. He loses the horse and his daughter. There are also four young adults who have little in common with each other and yet we see that their lives all start to intertwine...partially due to this one accident. Again, he studies how one persons actions affect so many others. A theme he comes back to often in his films. I need to get better about writing about the films closer to when I actually watch them...or take really good notes. Unfortunately I did neither with this film. However I recall that a lot of the film has a very unique feel to it - foreboding? hallucination? or is that just all the winter aspects of the film? There is something about this film that I really enjoyed, and I think it is a really great start to Tykwer's filmography if you are going to dive into it.
