National Treasure - Jon Turteltaub

Continuing my mini adventure film festival by diving into National Treasure directed by Jon Turteltaub. This film stars Nicolas Cage as Benjamin Franklin Gates, a historian, and a treasure hunter. His friend and co-hunter is Riley Poole played by Justin Bartha. The villain is Ian Howe (Sean Bean) while they are also being chased by FBI agent Sadusky (Harvey Keitel). Also along for the adventure, as unwillingly as they may be, are Abigail (Diane Kruger), and Ben's father Patrick (Jon Voight).

The film opens with a young Ben Gates hearing the story of a Knights Templar Treasure being told to him by his Grandfather, John Adams Gates (Christopher Plummer). It then moves to the icy north where they (Gates, Poole, Howe, and others) find a sunken ship. In the ship they find further clues about where the Templar Treasure is, and eventually realize that the map to the treasure may be on the back of the Declaration of Independence. So naturally they realize they have to steal it... Except by now Howe left them to die, so it is a race against time. Gates and Poole vs Howe...except now we have the FBI in the form of Sadusky also entering the race. It is really a fun action adventure for sure. If you enjoy any of the Indiana Jones films, you will most certainly get a kick out of this film.
