Juno and the Paycock - Alfred Hitchcock

I have to made an admission of guilt at this point. Juno and the Paycock is a play written by Seán O'Casey that I was to have read in my Theatre History class in college. I never did. So while this play is a classic of Irish Drama, watching Hitchcock's film version was my first experience with it. Needless to say it is clearly a play that has been filmed. Visually there is not much interesting happening. The story is about an Irish family in Dublin after the Irish Civil War. They are poor with only Mrs. Boyle working - that would be the titular Juno. Her husband is a bit of a drunk, but is also a showoff which is why she calls him a Paycock (peacock in an Irish accent). A lawyer shows up and states that a distant relative had passed away and the Boyle's are due an inheritance. They start spending it before they get it - and that becomes their downfall. While I'm glad I watched it, and now know what the play is about, I will probably never watch it again. This is part of the Legend Series I have been watching. There is no cameo.
