I'm a huge fan of Musical Theatre. I'm going to take this opportunity to go through my collection of cast recordings and do some sharing. These may not always be posted on Mondays, but I do like the alliteration.

First up - Amour. This musical was written by the incredible Michel Legrand. He is probably best known for the score to The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. He is a French jazz pianist who writes some great songs. He wrote the score for Yentl, as well as some other songs for Streisand. I believe the one song that most people would know would be "Windmills of your Mind."
This show, however, is a lovely romantic story of a clerk in post-war Paris (played by Malcolm Gets) who realizes one day that he can walk through walls. Now...what to do with this new found power? and how can he attract the attention of his unhappily married neighbor Isabelle (played by Melissa Errico)?
Take a listen to the overture. It is in a style that I just LOVE - and similar to the Swingle Singers.
Isn't that just great!!
Now - head off to Sh-k-boom records and buy the cast recording. While you are there, check out Melissa's solo recording of all Legrand! I'm certain you won't be disappointed.
